do i have an eating disorder?
i am 18, female, 100 pounds, 5 feet.
i have a smaller appetite than before, i eat less and i am less interested in foods.
i do want to be smaller, but i do not think i am fat. my family thinks i am very small because i did lose 20 pounds since nov. 08.
i do not see the weight loss in me really
i do throw up my foods on purpose sometimes, not very often. i read labels on the nutrition information, i have a problem, i just do not like food, it is bothering me, and i want to be a little smaller. and i throw up now and then. i skip meals.
is this a eating disorder, and if so, what is it called?

yes, its called being stupid
yes, it seems like you have an eating disorder but i don’t think i have the authority to diagnose you. see a doctor.
eat up or you’ll die.
Uhhhh yeah, you have an eating disorder.
Just for your info, some damage from throwing up a lot or malnutrition are irreversible.
Well shame on your high school health class for never teaching you about bulimia and anorexia because it sounds like you have both and you didn’t know what to call it! Yeah, this is an eating disorder. I’m 18 and 100 pounds but I’m 5 inches taller than you. And I’m very skinny. I don’t try to be skinny, in fact I eat 3 meals a day and I do not want to lose weight at all. You do not need to be smaller, and even if you truly want to be (go to a doctor and they will tell you if you need to lose weight), there are healthier ways to go about it than throwing up or skipping meals. Please don’t do this to yourself. The only right way to lose weight is to eat healthy foods in healthy portions and exercise regularly. And you don’t even need to lose weight, I’m guessing! Listen to your family, they know what they’re talking about.
How is it that you have the energy to even type this out?!?!
20 lbs. is a lot of weight for someone of your stature… you should see the weight loss unless you refuse to see it because it’s not enough to suit your idea of “Thin”.
You may be developing an eating disorder or you may already have one. This eating disorder would be diagnosed as Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified, or EDNOS. I would suggest that you get professional help as soon as possible before this becomes even worse. Eating disorders are so serious and effect you mentally and physically. I’m anorexic and now in recovery, and I know from experience many of the things you’re going through right now. It’s difficult to say if you do or do not have an eating disorder, but I do know that what you’re doing isn’t healthy and you should see a nutritionist and psychologist so that you can get better.
I hope this answer helped, and if you’re looking for more information, this website is very helpful: http://www.something-fishy.org/
I would suggest tlking to a Psychologist as well. And I also believe it would be considered EDNOS. I was diagnosed EDNOS and you sound a little bit like myself. Seriously try and get into treatment.
It’s a real shame that a young woman can be 18 and not really know that she has an eating disorder. Some great and really informative comments have followed though, apart from the first one. It’s important to remember you can cause your body really gross damage throwing up on purpose.
