Fat Loss Questions Archives

Hi! I have been doing p90x AND Insanity. I am on my 6 week of p90x & week 4 of Insanity. I do the Insanity program first and then p90x since it is mostly strength. I have no trouble completing p90x… Insanity is hard though… and if I get anyone saying Insanity is easy then you are amazing ;)
I lost weight pretty quickly BEFORE I started the programs by just eating better and cardio. I have been taking measurements and my clothes are fitting much looser or even falling off, so I know my body is changing and I am gaining muscle, but it seems to have slow waaay down!!! How do get this fat to come off quicker? Am I not eating enough maybe? I try to stick to no more than 1400 c/day. I do not ever eat fast food, soda and I am a celiac so I don’t eat wheat, just oatmeal, rice ect. I do have a coffee habit though, but if it’s Starbucks I stick to skinny lattes.
Please help! I started this 4 months ago and am going on a trip in 5 weeks, I need this flab off!

Typical workout 6 days a week: One of the Insanity (cardio circuits/plyo ect.) workouts then p90x (either plyo/strength/kenpo ect).

I’ll eat gluten free oatmeal made with almond milk & blueberries. Snack is a GF balance bar. Lunch salad w lots of veggies, almonds and either tuna or chicken. Snack: Apple and almonds or GF balance bar. Dinner chicken w rice and some veggie.

Is this workout working for my my fat loss?

Alright, so i am a junior in high school, 5′8 and 170 pounds with a small gut hanging out with gross man boobs. Everyday for the past few months I have been going to my school weight room every day for 45 minutes(a whole class period) and everyday after school I have been doing the “Shaun T Insanity workouts”. So my total time I spend working out is an hour and a half every weekday. I do not follow the Insanity nutrition guide with it though since I dont drink soda, eat alot of junk food, smoke or anything like that (except cookies at lunch at school).

So, like the header states. Is this a good routine to help me lose fat? Or is their anything else I could try doing to help?

P.S. I used to take whey protien but I felt that it was wasn’t helping me with fat loss goal.

thanks for reading this long post!

Tips for fat loss??

I’m 5′8 and i weigh 127 lbs. I don’t really need to lose weight but I do need to lose fat. Any tips on fat loss would be great. Nutrition, exercise, anything. Thanks.

Fat Loss Turbulence Training Hi,

I have been working out for last 6 months and last week I purchased Craig’s TurbulenceTraining program.

I have a query regarding my nutrition plan. I am 150 lbs with 18.5% body fat.

In last one month I have gained 2 kgs of muscle and 1 kg of fat. I take my weight & body fat after 2 weeks, I have noticed that muscle gain has remained the same but my body fat is increasing.

As of now I am totally clueless as to what is happening, I have not made any dramatic changes in my diet the only thing I started taking was a muscle gain supplement (which I started in last week of May).

I am thinking of reducing my intake of carbohydrates (esp. the muscle gain supplement, reducing that to 2 scoops instead of 4). Is this normal. Could you guys suggest any other carbohydrates that would help me reduce the fat and increase muscle at the same time.

thanks.

diet and calorie intake to lose 8 kgs in 8 weeks?

Hi , I have a profesional MMA fight on the 25th July.

My current weight is 94kgs , I have to weigh in at 83.9kgs the day before.

Im 6ft and my body fat is around 20% (not the leanest of people)

I Ideally want to get down to 86kgs and cut the 2.1 kgs with water/sweat loss in the sauna etc so that when I fight ill be at around 86kgs.

I train alot so that is sorted but I could do with some tips on the nutrition side of things.

Any tips or links to good sites would be greatly appreciated.

I posted a question yesterday relating to how I lost 17pounds in the past 2 months.

I am very familiar with nutrition and could write out the perfect meal plan as well (as some of the responses did).

I have tried everything to lose weight including running an hour/day, weights, reducing calories to 1300/day for a period of time, I even spent a week in 100degree weather in florida running and walking anywhere from 8 to 20 miles/day and eating around 2000 calories/day (much less than I was burning).

None of this worked! Maybe, I would lose 2 or 3 lbs in a month but that is not the result one would expect from the kind of dedication, I was giving this.

I lost 17lbs in the past 2 months by eating an average of 800 calories/day. Some days, I would eat as low as 600, and occasionally I would even eat close to 1500. After eating 600 calories/day for a couple of days, I would drop 2-3 pounds and then eat 1200 calories for a day and maintain the 2-3 weight loss.

Everyone was very adamant in their responses that I need 2000 calories per day to maintain and 1300 to lose. (or some variation close to that). but that never has worked for me, I gain when I eat 2000 calories/day, and I don’t budge when I eat 1300 calories/day.

Isnt’ it possible that some people, like me, only burn 1300 calories/day (not including workouts) and so that in order to lose, I have to reduce below that?? Why does nobody challenge what the US guildelines set out for us, bodies are complicated and can’t be reduced to figures that pertain to everyone.

(I am 5′5” and I currently weight 128lbs) (I do not think I am fat, and am very happy with where I am right now and do not care to lose more)

(On days when I would eat 600 calories, my diet consisted of tons of water and I mean tons, fruit, whole wheat pasta, eggs, oatmeal and veggies ~ variations of these types of foods in portions to equal 600/day)

In the 21st century, cell phones have become a man’s best friend. I know I need my cell every hour of the day. I was watching the news the other day when they started talking about dietcom’s new mobile nutrition service. Suppose you are ordering at a restaurant, deciding between two options. You can make the healthier choice by knowing the nutritional information of the two options. you text the name of the restaurant and item to diet1 or 34381 and you will be texted back immediatey with all the nutritional information such as calories & fat. The service is free of charge except for the text messaging charge from the specific carrier. Now, here’s one example of a cell phone service that’s already invented by diet.com to help people with weight loss and eating right. I’m sure in the future there will be many more. What do you think? Can cell phones help us maintain a nutritious and healthy lifestyle.
